CHILLER PLANT
By: Griffin Sipes, Christina Simley, Lauren Horvath, Steven Yang, Charlie Ray
In this project, we explore the inner workings of the chiller plant located on Oak Street in Champaign, Illinois. We perform thermodynamic analyses according to data sheets provided by the plant as well as hypothetical situations, discussing the overall performance of the chillers. Below, we have created an AR program to run alongside our website.

The Chiller Plant on Oak Street is the main source of cooling power for the campus on UIUC. It sends cool water to over 90 buildings through pipes on campus such as the NCSA Blue Waters supercomputer to cool systems and provide comfortable temperatures in buildings. In addition, the refrigerant used at the Oak Street Chiller Plant, called R-134A, is a greener alternative to other refrigerants.
