EVAPORATOR
Process 4 - 1
The evaporator is where the R-134a starts to evaporate. This is achieved through the transfer of heat from water in the evaporator to the refrigerant, cooling the water in the system. The transfer of heat from the water to the R-134a causes the refrigerant to become a superheated vapor. This vapor is then sent back to the compressor where the cycle begins again, and the cooled water is sent out to campus. This water is used to cool various systems such as the supercomputer on campus.
